Its programs address five pillars of health optimization: physical therapy, nutrition, pain & anxiety, health literacy, and environmental preparation. PeerWell collects patient and outcome data to help workers’ compensation insurers, payers, third-party administrators, and providers improve outcomes and reduce cost of care. The platform is available across North America via partnerships with large claims administrators, employers, and Medicare Advantage plans. The company says it has allowed thousands of patients to prepare for or avoid surgery. PeerWell provides a mobile PreHab platform for hip and knee replacement patients that aims to optimize health before surgery and speed recovery. The program delivers personalized 4–5 item daily checklists to prepare patients mentally, physically and environmentally. The app pairs patients with peers undergoing joint replacement at the same time and with mentors. PeerWell plans to enhance the platform by launching smartphone-based tracking for key orthopedic outcomes, including range-of-motion, sit/stand testing and six-minute walk tests. The company also intends to accelerate development of PreHab programs for other major procedures, establish new distribution channels for its orthopedics business and invest in team growth at its San Francisco headquarters. PeerWell raised $2.1M in seed funding to support these initiatives.
