Overview
Penguin Digital offers MoPho, an iPhone app that lets users take or select photos and order custom photo products such as t-shirts, mugs, mouse pads and custom iPhone cases. MoPho shows a preview and lets users zoom, rotate and scale images before ordering, then checks out with Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express via Authorize.net. The product lineup includes mouse pads, mugs, key chains, beverage coasters, frosted glass steins, HD aluminum art, re-stickable posters, t-shirts and custom iPhone cases, with example prices like $22 for a t-shirt, $19.99 for a water bottle and $12.99 for a mousepad. Behind the app is the Penguin SDK, which the company plans to open to other mobile developers in roughly a month; early access was offered to the first 25 TechCrunch readers. Penguin Digital was founded in 2010 and is led by founder Josh Friedman and CTO Andy Minkstein (both also of PicsCliq). Financially, the company has $1 million in seed funding from New York investors in a round led by Globis Capital.
