Perimeter Medical Imaging develops, patents, and commercializes high-resolution intraoperative imaging tools to allow clinicians to assess microscopic tissue structures during surgery. Its flagship OTIS™ (Optical Tissue Imaging System) provides an ultra-high resolution image of the entire surface of excised tissue, enabling real-time decisions at the surgical margin. OTIS™ is a platform technology designed to image multiple tissue types and aims to reduce follow-on surgeries—for example, roughly 25% of breast lumpectomy patients currently require a second operation due to residual cancer cells. Perimeter is a privately owned Canadian company and describes OTIS™ as an investigational device limited to investigational use under U.S. law. The company recently closed an oversubscribed $5 million Series A and will use proceeds to complete a clinical study at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, advance product development, and pursue FDA regulatory clearance for its first tissue-imaging product.
