Permiso Security

6545 Tucker Ave, Mc Lean, Virginia, 22101, United States

Overview

Permiso, based in Palo Alto, CA, builds threat-detection software that attributes human and non-human identities across cloud and SaaS environments. The company pairs runtime and static data to construct composite 'meta' identities and synthesize runtime activity across an enterprise's cloud attack surface. By unifying disparate identities and providing multi-plane coverage across cloud layers, Permiso constructs user sessions from disparate runtime events so detections need not rely on single events or isolated context. This approach yields high-fidelity alerts with immediate attribution and context, reducing the ability for threat actors to hide in silos of overwhelming cloud activity data. Permiso said it will use the new funding to expand operations and development efforts. Financially, the company completed an $18M Series A after a prior $10M seed round. Permiso offers cloud identity detection and response that anchors activity around identities and resources to provide attribution of access, activity and changes in cloud environments. The product gives organizations real-time insights into who is in the environment and what they are doing, aimed at surfacing malicious or anomalous behaviors, policy violations and insider threats. The company positions itself as "built by experts, usable by non-experts" to address skill shortages in cloud security and to serve teams transitioning from on-premise to cloud. Permiso was founded by former FireEye executives Paul Nguyen and Jason Martin and is based in Palo Alto. The startup says it is slightly ahead of the market with a focus on identity as the lynchpin for cloud detection. At launch it had a 15-person team and plans to use funding to triple headcount and expand its customer footprint.
