Permit.io is a full-stack authorization-as-a-service platform built on open-source foundations (notably OPA+OPAL) that lets developers bake permissions and access control into products via SDKs, APIs, and a no-code UI. The platform combines policy-as-graph and policy-as-code approaches and offers front-end components (Permit.io Elements) to speed implementation. Permit.io recently unveiled Permit.io Approval Flows to handle increasingly complex authorizations for data and AI agents, featuring end-to-end flow management, audit logs, and compatibility with any identity provider. The company says it has signed deals with more than 20 customers, including Schneider Electric, SignifyHealth (part of CVS), and Salt.Security, supporting hundreds of thousands of authorized users and growing into millions. Permit.io raised $8 million in a Series A and plans to use the funding to rapidly scale, build out a U.S. sales presence, and double down on its interface products. The company was founded by former engineers from Facebook, Microsoft, and Rookout. Permit.io raised a $6 million seed funding round led by NFX, with participation from Rainfall Ventures and angel investors including Amir Jerbi, Danny Grander and John Kodumal. The team says it will continue adopting evolving authorization approaches — mentioning interest in Google Zanzibar — to abstract ongoing changes in the authorization stack for customers.
