PhageLab
Vicuña Mackenna 4860, Macul, Santiago Metropolitan, 7821093, Chile
Overview
PhageLab develops bacteriophage-based products that target harmful bacteria in livestock, combining biology and artificial intelligence to identify and deploy phages. Its current portfolio includes Inspektor (for Salmonella), Fórmida (to control E. coli in poultry) and Phagein (a feed additive to prevent infectious diarrhea in ruminants). These solutions are already used by major poultry producers in Chile and Brazil. The company is pursuing broader international expansion through direct operations and strategic partnerships and plans to launch new product formulations beyond liquid formats by late this year or early next year. Leadership was restructured to support this phase: Caue Zortea was promoted from CCO to CEO while co-founder Hans Pieringer becomes CSO to double down on scientific innovation. Financially, PhageLab has raised roughly US$40 million to date, with the most recent US$3 million bridge round intended to fund commercial scaling and R&D.
