Phenex focuses on novel nuclear receptor targets to develop innovative small-molecule therapeutics in metabolic syndrome/NASH and autoimmune diseases. The company is advancing an FXR program and plans to take its compound Px-102 into a Phase IIa proof-of-concept clinical study. It is also developing a research program targeting RORgt for autoimmune indications such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, inflammatory bowel disease and psoriasis. Phenex closed a €6m Series C financing (approximately $7.8m) in September 2010. Through three rounds of funding from 2005 to 2010 the company has raised a total of €17.2m (approximately $22.4m).
