PHHHOTO

1166 Manhattan Ave, Ste 203, Brooklyn, New York, 11222, United States

Overview

Phhhoto began as a photo‑booth enterprise product (Phhhoto Pro) that captured a few frames on an iPad and turned them into moving photos; it later launched a consumer app. The app lets users create and share GIF‑style moving photos (Phhhotos) and has both an enterprise product and a public social feed. As of March 2015 the company reported over one million registered users and more than 40 million Phhhotos posted. The team recently launched an Android version and introduced a new Group feature called Party to enable private and public channel sharing and better discovery. Phhhoto says Phhhoto Pro continues to grow and that it has not needed to take much outside investment to date. Financially, the company has raised a total of $1.75M in disclosed funding. Phhhoto began as an iPad-based photobooth product (Phhhoto Pro) showcased at SXSW in 2013 and later launched a consumer app in August 2014. The app captures four frames and strings them into a looping GIF that users can save and share. Phhhoto has grown to one million registered users and users have posted over 10 million Phhhotos. The company also operates Phhhoto Pro as an enterprise user-acquisition channel, with around 300 corporate clients and installations at more than 1,000 events. Its social graph is populated from users' phonebooks rather than other networks, and the team says the app now outpaces the physical product for acquisition. Moving forward, Phhhoto is focused on building a platform that fosters media creation within the app and exploring new content types and communication modes.
