Phin

900 E Hamilton Ave Suite 100, Campbell, 95008

Overview

pHin is an oblong, Bluetooth-enabled device that floats in a pool and continuously measures temperature, pH, chlorine, alkalinity, water hardness and cyanuric acid, sending results to a smartphone app. The product uses premeasured, color-coded chemical pods delivered by subscription to simplify pool maintenance and tells users when to add chemicals. The company behind pHin is ConnectedYard, founded by Justin Miller and Mark Janes, and pHin is the startup's first product. pHin offers a subscription service starting at $149 for three months and additional on-demand services (cleaners and pump repair) for a fee. The device is available to order on the company website now and is due to ship in the first part of 2016; the company is in talks with physical stores and hot tub manufacturers for future distribution. pHin raised about $200,000 in seed funding from Tandem Capital.
