PHIND
3943 Irvine Blvd, Suite 505, Irvine, CA, 92602, United States
Overview
PHIND lets users search by snapping a photo of a landmark or business; the app uses geolocation and image data to pinpoint the location and surface aggregated content from multiple services. The product bundles snippets from Yelp, Foursquare, Wikipedia, TripAdvisor, Viator and Uber so users don’t have to jump between apps. The company released PHIND 2.0, which adds type and category search to complement photo-based queries and make the app useful when users know what they’re looking for. CEO Rishi Jhunjhnuwala framed the update as a way to broaden accessibility and avoid being pigeonholed as a novelty. PHIND says it will use newly raised capital to improve its core technologies and begin more sustained marketing efforts. The company was also voted the Startup Battlefield Wildcard Winner at TechCrunch Disrupt in New York earlier in the year.
