Phlair develops direct air capture (DAC) machines that use a pH-swing method: a basic solvent absorbs CO2 and an acid swing releases it, with solvent regeneration handled by a proprietary hydrolyzer. The hydrolyzer draws on membrane electrolyzer and fuel-cell technology to produce acids and bases rather than hydrogen. Phlair is deploying a pilot that can capture around 10 metric tons of CO2 per year and is planning larger 260-metric-ton plants scheduled to come online in late 2025. One of the larger plants will deliver carbon for a cement additive in the Netherlands with partner Paebbl, and another will be built in Canada with developer Deep Sky for storage. The startup has sold carbon credits to Frontier, which coordinates advanced market commitments with companies like Alphabet, Meta, Shopify, and Stripe. Phlair was formerly known as Carbon Atlantis and is led by co-founder and CEO Malte Feucht.
