Phylo
South San Francisco, CA, United States
Overview
Phylo is building an integrated environment for AI-native biology, anchored by its flagship product, Biomni Lab, an AI-integrated workspace that allows researchers to plan and execute sophisticated biological workflows with agentic AI assistance. In a validation project with Ginkgo Bioworks, Biomni Lab cut cell-painting and transcriptomic analysis workflows from several weeks to a few hours, underscoring its potential to accelerate wet-lab research. The company also maintains Biomni, an open-source platform that underpins its commercial offering. Led by CEO Kexin Huang, Ph.D., and President Yuanhao Qu, Ph.D., the South San Francisco–based startup is advised by a scientific board featuring Nobel laureate Carolyn Bertozzi and CRISPR pioneer Feng Zhang. Phylo plans to use its newly raised capital to scale production systems, further develop the open-source Biomni project, and advance research on agentic AI for biological applications. To date, the company has secured $13.5 million in seed financing; no revenue or user figures have been disclosed.
