Overview
PHYSEE develops window-integrated solar, coatings, and sensor technology centered on its SmartSkin system, which combines sensors, solar cells and a battery with a self-learning algorithm to control building climate systems. SmartSkin is claimed to make buildings up to 30% more energy-efficient while improving occupant comfort. The company also offers PAR+ and POWER+ coatings; PAR+ converts UV light into PAR light and can accelerate plant growth by about 7%. PHYSEE plans to scale up its technology after starting sales partnerships with two global glass manufacturers and will use part of the funding to test crop-growth effects with Wageningen University. Founded in 2014 by Ferdinand Grapperhaus and Willem Kesteloo, the company has focused on hardware R&D to integrate energy and data into facades. Financially, PHYSEE has secured €4M in growth capital as the first half of its Series A to support commercialization and geographic rollout.
