Overview
PhysioAssist is a French medical device company focused on airway clearance that developed Simeox, a device delivering controlled vibrational signals to clear bronchial mucus. Simeox obtained a CE mark in 2016, the company industrialized its prototype, and completed a first clinical study that confirmed benefit for patients with a high risk of bacterial or fungal infection. PhysioAssist uses bronchial mucus analysis and a digital simulation model to analyze vibrational impact on mucus in distant bronchi and inform its product design. A typical Simeox session lasts 10–20 minutes and can be supervised by a healthcare professional or provided at home to improve quality of life and patient compliance. The company plans to commercialize Simeox as a new standard for airway clearance across cystic fibrosis and COPD patients in Europe and internationally, and to complete additional clinical studies in the target indications. A €6 million Series B financing announced in September 2017 will support the commercial ramp-up and strengthening of the management team.
