Physna is a Columbus, Ohio–based geometric search company that builds a geometric deep-learning platform and operates Thangs, a public geometric search engine for 3D models. Its core product, Thangs, hosts millions of 3D models compatible with the vast majority of formats and file types and lets users search, store, share, and collaborate. Thangs currently has 250,000 registered users and indexes more than 2.5 million 3D models, 1 million of which were added in the last six weeks. Physna also offers an enterprise platform that searches, compares, and analyzes 3D models to support engineering, industrial design, and procurement processes. Use cases include finding components within assemblies, identifying alternative parts, and letting procurement managers locate parts across an organization and detect redundant purchases. The company announced Instant AR, a Thangs feature that instantly converts 3D models into AR formats usable in Android and iOS native browsers without special hardware or apps. Physna intends to use the new funding to scale and develop its geometric deep-learning platform and the Thangs search engine. Physna develops geometric deep-learning technology and 3D search solutions that codify the physical properties of real-world objects and the relationships between them. Its software is used in engineering, industrial design and procurement to let designers, engineers, supply-chain professionals and field workers find 3D models by searching with predefined 3D objects, partial models, geometric measurements or actual model data. In addition to its enterprise solution, Physna powers Thangs.com, a free consumer search engine that allows users to search with models directly and supports assembly files from virtually any platform. Thangs enables users to upload massive assemblies and subassemblies, visualize how parts go together, and, through a light version of Physna’s core algorithms, explore alternative ways to build models. The company raised $20M in a Series B that brings total funding to $29M and plans to use the proceeds to grow the team and accelerate development. Physna was founded in 2016 by CEO Paul Powers and is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
