Pick1

1 Daniel Burnham Court Suite 308, San Francisco, CA, 94109, US

Overview

Pick1 provides a real-time survey and social analytics platform that lets companies perform complex analytics on survey respondents from over a dozen social networks and includes remarketing/retargeting tools. The company says it will use new funds to boost scalability and accelerate growth. Pick1 has offices in Italy and Chile and is described as San Francisco, CA-based. It has worked with brands and agencies including IKEA, Toyota, Telefónica, American Express and WPP as well as many small and medium-sized organizations. The company is an alum of 500 Startups and Start-Up Chile and recently signed a strategic partnership with SurveyMonkey. Co-founded by Paolo Privitera and Armando Biondi (who recently left), Pick1 previously raised $1m in funding. Pick1 offers an end-to-end Real-Time Marketing solution that automates market research to personalize web users' experiences. The platform lets brands create and manage insightful questions and deliver actionable answers for both social individuals and businesses. Customers include Ikea, Toyota, American Express, Pirelli and several small and medium-sized businesses that use the automated self-install version. The company is led by Paolo Privitera and Armando Biondi and will join Mountain View, CA-based 500 Startups' accelerator for four months. Through the accelerator Pick1 will receive up to $250K in funding and gain access to mentors, designers in residence and a creative workspace. To date Pick1 has raised $1M from private investors including Oliver Flogel, Jordi Ferrer, Wilson Pais and Gonzalo Begazo, and previously participated in Start-up Chile. Pick1 provides a service that collects and queries people’s opinions from Facebook and other sites, positioning itself as an open graph for opinions between market research and advertising. The product lets customers post questions (including via a Facebook mobile app) and receive real-time responses, and the company sells the aggregated data to customers such as media agencies. Pricing for collected data starts as low as $0.05 per question. Executives describe Pick1 as a big-data play that makes it simple to see preferences across many topics, and customers have begun purchasing those datasets. The company is based in San Francisco and its founders, originally from Italy, participated in StartupChile. Competitors named in the article include Peanut Labs and Ask Your Target Market, and Pick1 faces the broader challenge of competing with large big-data analytics firms.
