Contest Builder is a gamification app on the Salesforce.com AppExchange that enables sales managers to build and deploy contests to motivate sales teams, provide real-time feedback, and deliver data analytics. The tool was originally developed inside ePrize to motivate its own sales team and has been spun out under a separate company called LevelEleven. The company reports 30 customers, including the Detroit Pistons and Comcast, and charges customers on a per-user basis with pricing that varies by number of users. Contest Builder recently secured $1 million in funding from Detroit Venture Partners and ePrize. CEO Bob Marsh said the company is wary of being too tied to Salesforce.com but views the platform as an excellent place to grow in the near term. Over time LevelEleven plans to expand beyond Salesforce to scale the business and compete with vendors such as Badgeville and Bunchball.
