Pickme builds a network of pick-up and drop-off points that lets customers have packages delivered to participating neighbors rather than traditional pick-up locations or home delivery. Individuals register availability and set a maximum number of packages they can handle; when they accept packages they receive a small payment (less than €1 per package). The startup has signed partnerships with carriers including DHL, GLS, Colissimo and Geodis. Pickme reports 96,000 account registrations and processes about 30,000 packages per month. Its service is positioned as an alternative to retail pick-up points and competitors such as Welco, and is particularly useful in rural areas, where 30% of its network members live. The model can shorten delivery trips and reduce CO2 emissions compared with individual home deliveries.
