Overview
Pico Interactive develops VR and AR hardware and enterprise solutions for consumer and business users. Led by CEO Zhou Hongwei, the company offers headsets and interactive CGI solutions and launched four new headsets in 2020. Pico operates across the United States, Europe, China and Japan. It closed a $37.4M (€31.4M) Series B+ round and has raised $67.23M (€56.48M) in B and B+ funding to date. The company plans to use the proceeds to grow its B2C presence in Asia, expand B2B partnerships in Western markets, and accelerate new product development. Pico Interactive focuses on self-contained standalone virtual reality headsets rather than PC- or console-tethered systems. The company announced a new China-bound headset called the Pico G2, an updated version of the Pico Goblin built on Qualcomm’s 835 chipset. Pico’s hardware runs on HTC’s Vive Wave VR platform. The startup was founded in 2015 and this fundraise is its first outside financing since founding. Management says it plans to release its own augmented reality hardware in 2019. The company raised capital amid a market where competitors have aggressively cut prices, compressing margins for hardware players.
