Picovoice provides an on-device voice platform that lets developers create custom wake words and perform follow-on command intent inference without sending voice data to the cloud. Developers at Whirlpool, LG, Telenav, and other companies use the platform across appliances, consumer electronics, smart home, industrial, workflow automation, space tech, and government. The Picovoice platform performs both wake word detection and command intent inference, allowing branded activation phrases and offline processing. CEO Alireza Kenarsari, an ex-Amazon engineer, leads the three-year-old Vancouver, B.C. startup. Picovoice opened its developer platform under the permissive Apache 2.0 license. The company bootstrapped until this round, became profitable this year, employs just under 10 people, and plans to raise a full investment round next year.
