PierSight is assembling a constellation of SAR and AIS satellites to provide continuous ocean monitoring with 100% coverage in all weather conditions, day and night. Its satellites are intended to serve governments, commercial businesses, and NGOs for maritime security, environmental monitoring, and maritime operations. The company plans to design and launch a demonstration satellite on ISRO’s PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM) platform and to deploy its first operational satellite. PierSight will use the new funding to build out the team, design and launch demonstration and operational satellites, and purchase and test essential hardware. Founders Gaurav Seth and Vinit Bansal lead the company. Prior to this round, PierSight raised $600K in a pre-seed round in September led by All In Capital. PierSight is building a constellation of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging and Automatic Identification System (AIS) satellites to provide persistent ocean surveillance. The company combines SAR and AIS technologies to monitor vessels and address illegal fishing, contraband smuggling, terrorism, and environmental offences. Co-founded by Gaurav Seth (Ex-ISRO) and Vinit Bansal (Ex-National Instruments), PierSight targets clients including island nations, government commerce divisions, and environmental agencies concerned about Exclusive Economic Zone exploitation. It raised $600,000 in a pre-seed round led by All In Capital and will deploy the funding to advance satellite subsystems by strengthening its talent pool and procuring essential electronic components for integration and testing. All In Capital committed $200,000 to the round, and angel investors including Andreas Klinger, Vismay Agrawal, and Nikunj Jalan also participated. The company is commercialising defence-grade SAR for persistent ship monitoring and intends to scale technical integration and testing with this early capital.
