Pilotworks operates a network of shared commercial kitchens that rent by the hour or month and provide access to equipment, cleaning, warehousing, distribution services, and technology for culinary entrepreneurs. The company pairs kitchen access with an education and mentorship program and connects members to a network of 75+ mentors covering fundraising, legal, branding, sourcing, and operations. Since acquiring its first kitchen in September 2016, Pilotworks has helped 250+ nascent food and beverage businesses start and scale; more than 70% of those businesses are women- and minority-owned. Current facilities include kitchens in Brooklyn, Portland, and Providence; Newark has just opened, and Chicago and Dallas were slated to open in December, alongside further expansion in New York City. Pilotworks also hosts market vendors, QSRs, CPG companies, bakers, caterers, delivery-only concepts, and other culinary entrepreneurs. The company plans to use recent financing to build out its education and mentorship offerings, expand distribution reach, and open additional kitchen spaces across the United States.
