PinCell is a Milan, Italy–based biotechnology company founded in October 2008 as an academic spin‑off of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia by dermatology experts Prof. Carlo Pincelli and Dr. Alessandra Marconi. The company targets a novel pathological pathway to develop first‑in‑class anti‑inflammatory therapies for rare, severe skin diseases with high unmet medical need. PinCell recently raised €1.65m in seed financing led by Sofinnova Partners. It intends to use the funds to continue to expand its development efforts. The round coincided with leadership changes: Gabriella Camboni was appointed Chief Executive Officer and member of the board, and Luigi Costa was named chairman. Paola Pozzi, Partner at Sofinnova Partners, also joined PinCell’s board.
