Pixalate builds an analytics platform that detects and reports fraudulent advertising activity across connected television and mobile environments. The company analyzes over 5 million apps across five app stores and more than 2 billion IP addresses across roughly 300 million connected TV devices. Pixalate collects over 2 terabytes of data per month and says it can identify over 40 types of invalid traffic. The company has grown revenue 1,200% since 2014. Pixalate has offices in Palo Alto and London and plans product enhancements to add more privacy and data features. It also plans to double its sales and customer teams, expand its London office, open a new office in Singapore, and add China-based app stores such as Tencent and Baidu to its coverage. Pixalate collects performance data on display and mobile advertising to help buyers improve campaigns, compare media-buying channels, and optimize spending in real time. Its tools create heat-maps and filters by categories such as location and size, and surface mobile interaction statistics like hover times, clicks, and conversions. The platform detects fraud from incentivized ad networks, malware, retargeting bots, click farms, and other sources, and shows ‘ad waste’ such as impressions seen versus served. Pixalate’s AdWisely feature makes specific recommendations advertisers can take to improve results. The company is integrated with AppNexus, OpenX, RightMedia, MediaMath, Google AdSense, DoubleClick Ad Exchange and Turn. Pixalate has raised $4.6 million to expand its offerings and plans to make its analytics free to brands and agencies starting in 2014. CEO Jalal Nasir positions the product as a way to bring transparency to RTB media buys and unlock advertiser spend constrained by high fraud rates.
