Overview

PLAiR is a stealth-stage company founded in 2011 by veterans of the wireless industry that is developing a small wireless USB dongle for televisions. The device will enable users to stream video content from their laptops or mobile devices to any TV, realizing the company’s goal of letting “anyone watch anything, anytime, anywhere.” Its vision builds on the so-called “Hypernet,” a framework that combines web, cellular, and Wi-Fi connectivity to create new content experiences across billions of nodes. Although the firm has not officially launched its product, an update to its funding announcement confirms the dongle’s core functionality. Operating in stealth since inception, PLAiR has yet to release any user, revenue, or partnership metrics. The company’s immediate focus is product launch and initial go-to-market execution, financed by its recent seed round of capital.
