Overview
PlantArcBio develops genes and traits to improve crop productivity and performance using its patented Direct In Plant (DIP™) gene discovery platform. Its pipeline focuses on yield and abiotic stress tolerance, insect resistance, herbicide tolerance, and disease control. Genes discovered by the company have improved drought tolerance in model plants by tens of percentages in greenhouse tests. The company has advanced from model-plant experiments to target-plant testing and is collaborating with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to test drought-tolerance genes in soybean greenhouses and fields in the U.S. Based on soybean trial results, PlantArcBio plans to accelerate commercialization and sell genes to seed companies for soybean, corn, canola and other crops worldwide. The company completed a $3 million funding round from private investors and grants from the Israel Innovation Authority to support these activities.
