Planteva Farms is a Montreal-based ag-tech company developing the next generation of plant nurseries that combine controlled-environment agriculture (CEA), greenhouse production, and field farming. Its core offering is a Seedling-as-a-Service model that leverages PlantVation AB’s QS GreenBox-Stationary systems to automate and standardize seedling propagation. The first Montreal facility will host two GreenBox units capable of producing more than 50 million seedlings and transplants annually once fully operational in 2026. Initial crop focus includes lettuce, leafy greens, and herbs for indoor farms, with trials underway for field crops such as onion and celery, and propagation protocols for tomatoes and strawberries. Planteva claims its controlled conditions improve plant health, pest resistance, and grower profitability without increasing costs. The company plans parallel expansion to a second site in California to target that state’s large transplant market, followed by potential facilities in Quebec and British Columbia. Planteva is currently completing a $4.5 million seed round and intends to use the proceeds to finish construction of the Montreal site and begin U.S. expansion.
