Plantix provides an AI-driven solution for automated detection of plant diseases via a mobile app where users photograph diseased crops. The app's image-recognition software processes photos and returns the most probable disease, nutrient deficiencies, or relevant pests. The product was developed in 2015 by PEAT GmbH as a spin-off from the Leibniz University of Hanover and the company is led by co-founder and CEO Simone Strey. One million farmers in India already use the platform. Plantix plans to expand into Indonesia and Vietnam. The company raised €6.6m in Series A funding to improve its AI-driven solution.
