Platypus provides a SaaS "talent lifecycle" solution that measures on-the-ground company culture by asking potential and current employees to reflect on values across people, behavior, organisation and workplace. The product uses gamification to collect and aggregate those responses, then compares and predicts how individual values add to company culture to improve hiring fit. The company says the result is better-fit hires, higher employee satisfaction and longer retention, which translates into cost savings for employers. Platypus was founded in February 2019 by Nico Blier-Silvestri and Daniel Bowen; Blier-Silvestri has more than 15 years of HR experience at companies including Unity Technologies, Trustpilot, Peakon and Revolut. Within ten months the startup reported international customers in Latvia, Singapore, Sweden, the UK and the US. The company will use the new funding to accelerate early-stage growth and customer traction, and positions its technology as a tool to address cultural misalignment that it says drives early departures.
