Play Impossible
111 S Jackson St, Seattle, Washington, 98104, United States
Overview
Play Impossible has developed a smart, connected inflatable ball packed with sensors (accelerometer, barometer, microcontroller, ultracapacitor) that sends real-time data via Bluetooth to iOS and Android apps. The product pairs with a charging stick that delivers two hours of play with a 20-second charge and can record and share highlight videos. The company manufactures the ball in partnership with Seattle-area Baden Sports and plans to sell it commercially next year for about $99. Play Impossible targets kids aged 10–15 and emphasizes fun, physical games designed for the mobile-first generation, positioning itself against other connected-ball efforts from Adidas, Spaulding, and Wilson. The founders include CEO and co-founder Brian Monnin, Chief Product Designer Gadi Amit, and CTO Kevin Langdon. Future plans include making a proprietary physics engine and game APIs available to third-party developers to expand the catalog of physical-digital games. Financially, the company is coming out of stealth with a recent $1M investment round and has also raised nearly $77K via Indiegogo equity crowdfunding, with plans to raise up to an additional $400K.
