PlayerTek is a Dundalk-based tech startup building a consumer wearable sports tracker aimed at aspiring amateur players. Founded by Ronan Mac Ruairi and Kevin McDaid, the system measures more than 2,000 variables every second and uses algorithms to produce measurements and simple charts to help players improve. The founders position PlayerTek as the world’s first consumer wearable sports tracker designed to let amateurs optimise training and matches previously available only to professionals. The company is taking pre-orders from its website with an RRP of €249 and the product was described as due to launch imminently in Ireland. After the Irish launch, PlayerTek plans a UK rollout timed to the start of the 2016 Premiership season.
