Playpulse builds the Playpulse One, an exercise bike that integrates video games, high-accuracy pedal sensors, console-like controllers, and a large touchscreen to create an immersive workout experience. The product is positioned as a Peloton-like home fitness bike with games, targeting people who struggle with motivation and families who aren't hardcore gamers. The company traces its origins to a doctoral research project on combining gaming and exercise, and CEO Erling Magnus Solheim says prototypes were tested in schools and gyms. The team is about 14 people across Europe, has a manufacturing partner, and is taking preorders at $1,400. At launch Playpulse expects to offer at least three games and is hiring for roles at the intersection of gaming and health. The company plans to grow its content library through partnerships.
