Plugaway produces Wi‑Fi connected smart plugs and LED lightbulbs that can be controlled with an Android or iOS app to switch power, dim lights, schedule devices, monitor electricity consumption, and send alerts. The system is designed to be lower‑cost than competitors, with smart plugs priced at $30 each and bulbs positioned cheaper than comparable offerings. Plugaway emphasizes openness and interoperability — offering an API, IFTTT compatibility, and the ability for third parties to build and share custom app skins. The company is currently at prototype stage and is funding product development via a Kickstarter campaign. If the crowdfunding goal is met the startup plans to transition to commercial production and ship kits to backers next April.
