Plum Print, based in Asheville, North Carolina, was founded in 2012 by Carolyn Lanzetta and Meg Ragland. The company sends a prepaid shipping kit to customers; parents drop artwork into the box and Plum Print scans or photographs all types of artwork, edits each image, and creates custom layouts for coffee-table books. Parents approve the proof and the book is shipped to the family, with the original artwork returned if desired. Plum Print also creates digital archives of the artwork. The company intends to use the $1M seed funding to continue to grow the business and expand into new products. Planned expansions include online galleries, note cards, canvases, calendars and other keepsake merchandise.
