Overview
Plusgrade provides ancillary revenue solutions for the global travel industry, offering a portfolio of products that help airlines, hotels, cruise lines, passenger rail and financial services create new revenue streams and enhanced customer experiences. Over 200 partners worldwide use Plusgrade’s offerings, and the company says it has generated billions of dollars in new revenue opportunities and improved experiences for millions of passengers and guests. In 2022 Plusgrade acquired Points.com and in 2023 it acquired UpStay, broadening its loyalty and hotel ancillary capabilities. The company was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Montréal. Management intends to use new strategic partnerships to continue expanding product offerings and market reach. Financial terms related to the recent transaction were not disclosed in the announcement. Plusgrade provides ancillary revenue and merchandising solutions that help travel companies optimize seat inventory. Founded in 2009 by CEO Ken Harris, the company serves more than 70 travel companies, including Air Canada, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, across more than 50 countries. It offers a suite of products to help airlines monetize inventory and plans to expand that product suite further. Plusgrade received a CA$200 equity investment from Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in a transaction that valued the company at over CA$600 million. La Caisse acquired a portion of the shares held by TA Associates, which will remain a major shareholder alongside management and other investors. The company intends to use the proceeds to penetrate new international markets and is expanding its team across its Montréal headquarters and its New York and Singapore offices. Plusgrade offers a white‑labeled, proprietary software-as-a-service platform that enables airlines to manage and optimize revenue from seat upgrades and other ancillary premium services. The platform integrates with existing airline reservation systems and is designed to capture incremental, high-margin revenue from unsold inventory while enhancing the passenger experience. Plusgrade serves more than 35 premier airlines globally and has established a market-leading position through customer service and product innovation. The company emphasizes solutions that require no capital investment from customers. Founded in 2009, Plusgrade maintains offices in Montreal and New York. Management states the company will continue to innovate and expand relationships with existing partners and sign additional airlines to drive growth.
