Plyfe

62 Grand Street, Floor 2, New York, 10013, United States

Overview

Plyfe builds branded, promotional games that reward users for completing challenges—ranging from social-sharing tasks to trivia—for chances to win real-world prizes. Its games run on the desktop web and Facebook, and as of this announcement can be played on Plyfe’s mobile website and embedded inside smartphone apps. Challenges generate tickets that enter users to win high-profile prizes (VIP NASCAR experiences, meetings with Lady Gaga, backstage passes, VMA tickets), and customers include Haulerdeals, the United Nations Foundation, and DermStore. The company says mobile is well suited for “snackable content” and plans to add mobile-specific challenges, including ones that could use location data. Plyfe raised a $750,000 bridge round to continue growing the company and product and intends to pursue a larger Series A once it achieves more traction. Total funding after the bridge is $1.75 million. Co-founded in 2010 by Zaw Thet, Mateen Aini (CEO), and Jeff Arbour (CMO), plyfe operates a free consumer destination and a platform for companies to boost engagement across digital and social touch points. The platform lets consumers earn rewards for activities on plyfe.me and on partners' sites, Facebook pages, and apps. plyfe completed a $1M seed funding round to support its product and go-to-market plans. As part of the financing, angel investor Ken Lamb joined the company's Board of Directors and Sami Lababidi joined as a Board Observer. The company is moving out of stealth into an invitation-only public beta slated for later in March. plyfe maintains additional offices in San Francisco and Pittsburgh and is actively hiring.
