Plynk is a consumer-facing money-messaging app that lets users send money as a message to single contacts or group chats, linked to users’ Facebook accounts. Once an account is created users receive a dedicated IBAN and a virtual Mastercard for online payments. The app launched in January 2017 targeting the 18–25 market and is available on iOS and Android; it has over 6,000 users in the Irish market following a soft launch. The company plans to integrate with Apple and Android Pay, add GBP to the platform, and continue product development to build more features. Plynk aims to expand across Europe (with Spain and Portugal next) and worldwide, and is hiring aggressively—moving from a team of eight with over 20 engineering and growth roles to fill in the next 18 months.
