Pocket Sign

Tokyo, Japan

Overview

Pocket Sign centers its offering on the municipal super app "PocketSign," which lets residents obtain copies of residence certificates, receive disaster alerts, and complete multiple government procedures in one place. The company supplements the app with "PocketSign MynaConnect," a gateway that safely links external services to the government’s My Number Portal API, and "PocketSign Platform," a mini-app development environment. Its core technology embeds Japan’s Public Key Infrastructure (JPKI) into smartphones, allowing online proof-of-identity and meeting the high security standards required by both public and private sectors. Developers can integrate this capability quickly through Pocket Sign’s proprietary SDK. The service is already being rolled out by municipalities across Japan, and the firm now aims to extend its digital-identity infrastructure to the residential market in partnership with Sekisui House Group. Funds will be used to expand municipal features and build housing-focused identity and contract workflows, positioning Pocket Sign as a trust layer that bridges public and private services. To date, the company has raised a total of ¥1.4 billion in funding.
