Polar Signals

2093 Philadelphia Pike 5776, Claymont, Delaware, 19703, United States

Overview

Polar Signals is the main developer of Parca, an open-source continuous-profiling project that tracks CPU and memory usage down to code-line granularity. The company offers a hosted product, Polar Signals Cloud, which adds enterprise features such as SSO, team provisioning and permission management to the open-source core. It recently introduced an AI-powered “optimize with AI” suggestion feature via early access to help developers improve code efficiency. Polar Signals positions its mission as making datacenters ten times more efficient and also markets the product for incident response use cases (e.g., diagnosing latency or CPU spikes and DDoS impact). Since its commercial launch in October the company has more than a dozen paying customers, including Vercel, Materialize, Canonical and Weaviate, and claims 11 employees. The company says the fresh funding will be used to scale go-to-market efforts and grow the team to keep up with a large sales pipeline. Polar Signals develops continuous profiling technology to measure code performance and resource usage at the line-number level. Its core offering centers on Parca, an open-source continuous profiling project and the backbone of Polar Signals’ hosted product, which is currently in private beta. The Parca stack includes a storage component optimized for profiling data and an agent that uses eBPF for low-overhead data collection, designed to integrate with Prometheus deployments. The company says continuous profiling helps teams identify optimization opportunities that can reduce cloud bills. Polar Signals was founded in 2020 by Frederic Branczyk, a longtime Prometheus maintainer and former CoreOS/Red Hat engineer, and the team includes alumni from CoreOS, Red Hat, DigitalOcean and HashiCorp. The company is fully remote and plans to use new funding to accelerate Parca development and expand its engineering and technical teams.
