Pawnfi is a DeFi lending and leasing marketplace that appraises, liquidates and provides use cases for non-standard assets (NSAs), including NFTs, liquidity provider tokens, tokenized rights, minor cryptocurrencies, and bundled assets. The protocol uses a pawn-style model executed via smart-contract escrow and blockchain custody to unlock liquidity and maximize capital efficiency for NSA holders. Pawnfi launched a closed beta in December 2020 for strategic investors, GameFi partners and NFT KOLs, completed key iterations based on feedback, and delivers weekly product updates. Its EVM-compatible version supports Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum and Moonbeam, with plans for cross-chain integration on Flow and other chains. The team comprises professionals from blockchain R&D, traditional finance and the gaming industry and intends to transition governance to a DAO after initial growth. Financially, Pawnfi announced a $3M strategic funding round to support product development, asset whitelisting, multi-chain network support and other product initiatives.
