Overview
Polyarc is a Seattle-based studio best known for Moss, a VR game starring a mouse named Quill that was built on Unreal Engine and released on PSVR in February 2018 before arriving on Quest, HTC Vive, and Rift. The studio plans to continue developing VR titles while adding augmented reality (AR) to its core competency, pursuing AR projects alongside existing VR work. Leadership emphasizes designing character interactions that leverage physical interaction and emotional feedback, capabilities they began exploring in VR and see as transferable to AR. Polyarc sizes projects to fit market realities and intends to use AR to reach a larger audience across common devices such as smartphones. The company raised $9 million to support a project in development and other initiatives, having previously raised $3.5 million in 2016 to fund Moss’s development. Founders include Tam Armstrong, Chris Alderson, and Danny Bulla, and the studio says it is working on both VR and AR projects going forward.
