Pond5 operates a user-driven marketplace that sells stock video, music, photos, special effects and Adobe AfterEffects assets. Launched in 2006, the platform lets creators upload work and set their own prices. The company hosts more than 15 million media clips from 30,000 artists across 127 countries, including 2.7 million videos—which Pond5 says is the largest royalty-free video collection on the web. Pond5 is profitable and employs around 70 people split between its New York headquarters and an office in Prague. With the new funding, the company plans to build out the product, double the staff, add more content, and increase marketing.
