Overview
Popit builds Popit Sense, a clip‑on hardware device that attaches to pill blister packs and detects when pills are removed, logging consumption in a paired app via Bluetooth. The device uses three proprietary detection technologies (the company holds a patent on an acoustic sensing feature and also uses an accelerometer) to automatically record pill taking and alert users when doses are missed. Popit plans a cloud service to share pill‑consumption statistics with doctors, and envisions services for clinicians and caregivers to support adherence. The startup is piloting the device at Kuopio University Hospital with birth control medication and expects to publish results later this year; it is seeking additional hospital pilots for cardiovascular disease and hypertension. Popit says the product will cost around €69 and aims to position itself as more automatic and usable than reminder apps or bottle‑based innovations. The company has secured funding to finish development and prepare for an official launch next year.
