Overview

PopSQL is a desktop and web tool that lets users connect to databases, write SQL queries, and share them across teams. The editor helps with query construction and surfacing database usage (for example, which tables are most popular) to speed analysis. It targets engineers and analysts as well as business teams like marketing, finance and support by offering an approachable UX for non-technical users. Since its $3.4M seed in September 2020, PopSQL has doubled headcount to 14, increased revenue fivefold, and grown from 300 customers to more than 2,000, including Vroom, Redfin, Shipt, Udacity, Ramp and Doodle. The company raised a $14M Series A led by Tiger Global, bringing total funding to $17.4M. Proceeds will be used to build sales and marketing teams and expand engineering to deepen the product roadmap. PopSQL provides a collaborative SQL editor that lets teams write, share and version database queries and build a shared library of queries. The product integrates with Slack and supports a wide range of databases including Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB and Cassandra. It includes features to schedule recurring queries via a visual cron editor and basic charting that can be used to assemble simple dashboards. The founder says the goal is to change how teams analyze and share data and to create beautiful, easy-to-use collaborative tools. PopSQL recently raised a $3.4M seed round to execute on its product roadmap and scale the company.
