Portal
2443 Fillmore St #380-8884, San Francisco, California, 94115, United States
Overview
Portal’s core product is a Layer-3 network called BitScaler that uses HTLC contracts and Taproot to enable atomic swaps between native BTC and assets on other blockchains. Liquidity providers connect to the network in a hub-and-spoke model while a federation of ‘Portal Guardians’ validators only matches orders and records accounting, never taking custody of funds. The company has just introduced an institutional OTC desk built on this infrastructure, targeting large traders and institutions that want real BTC liquidity. Portal plans to scale its permissioned validator set to roughly 150 nodes on a Notary Chain based on EVMOS, eventually opening participation through staking auctions tied to its PBT token. By removing wrapped tokens, custodial vaults, and traditional bridges, the team positions Bitcoin as the settlement layer for large global trades. The company recently secured $25 million in new funding led by JTSA Global with follow-on support from Coinbase Ventures, OKX Ventures, and Arrington Capital, bringing fresh capital to expand the network and validator base.
