Overview

POSpulse has built a platform for crowdsourcing retail and customer data, where users serve as “scouts” to gather information on point-of-sale experience and service quality. The platform aggregates those inputs and generates recommendations for business owners. The company counts Metro, Vodafone, and Yakult among its clients. Last year POSpulse expanded into Italy, Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic. The startup announced a €3 million funding round and plans to use the proceeds for further internationalization. Management says real-time market research via the platform will accelerate clients’ decision-making and boost sales and marketing performance. POSpulse provides a point-of-sale analytics platform that collects and analyzes crowd-based data from retail locations. More than 10,000 scouts generate data on product placement, secondary placements and competitive in-store insights for retailers and FMCG producers. Clients include Procter & Gamble, Beiersdorf, Osram, SAB Miller and tegut. Led by founder and CEO Dominic Blank and based in Berlin, the company plans to launch its product internationally in 2016 and said the funds will enable activity in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. POSpulse intends to use the proceeds to further develop its market research and analytics tool. The company completed a seven-digit Series A financing round to support these initiatives. POSpulse provides specialized retail analytics for consumer goods manufacturers and distributors by crowdsourcing data collection to real customers, called Scouts, who use the proprietary ShopScout app to capture information and photos at points of sale. Data is sent in real time to POSpulse's technology backend for analysis. The company reports more than 10,000 shopscouts generating point-of-sale data and photos on its behalf and serves clients including Procter & Gamble, Beiersdorf, Osram, SAB Miller and tegut. POSpulse is led by CEO and founder Dominic Blank and is based in Berlin, Germany. The company received a mid six-figure euro investment from High-Tech-Gründerfonds as its second funding. POSpulse plans to use the funds to grow its sales team, advance the analytics platform, and expand into additional international markets in 2015.
