MyLikes operates a marketplace that connects advertisers with social influencers who can endorse products across Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and blogs. Anyone can sign up to endorse products, and the platform calculates social influence based on follower counts, click rates on endorsements, and other factors to determine payouts. The company additionally launched a mobile app for iPhone and Android that lets users endorse products by uploading and sharing photos or by checking into business locations. MyLikes completed a $5.6 million Series A financing led by Khosla Ventures. That round follows an all-Googler $600,000 seed round in which Metamorphic Ventures participated. Seed investor Paul Buchheit has joined the company's board and Khosla partner Alex Kinnier also took a board seat. MyLikes operates a pay-per-post social marketing ad network that pairs advertisers with influencers who publish clearly labeled sponsored messages on Twitter or their blogs. The platform ties influencer payouts to measured effectiveness, giving each publisher an influencer score and paying more for higher clickthroughs. Since launching in January, MyLikes has signed up 20,000 influencers who collectively generate about 15 million ad impressions per day (roughly 500 million per month). The company measures clicks per thousand followers and reports roughly 4 clicks per thousand on average, which it says equates to about $0.20 per click. MyLikes positions its cost-per-click as lower than U.S. AdSense averages and must compete with Twitter’s promoted Tweets and other social ad networks like Idealab’s Tweetup.
