Powernaut develops orchestration software that manages millions of decentralised devices—electric vehicles, solar panels, batteries and heat pumps—to optimise them across energy suppliers' portfolios. Its platform integrates these devices with the wider grid, balancing local production with grid demands to enable suppliers to offer new, cost-effective solutions and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Founded in January 2024 and based in Ghent, Belgium, the company is led by CEO Florentijn Degroote and CTO Serge Morel. Powernaut has partnered with industry leaders managing over 200MW of decentralised energy assets. It raised €2.4M in a Pre-Seed round and intends to use the funds to support its mission to decentralise the energy sector, eliminate reliance on fossil fuels, and lower costs for consumers.
