Overview

Prairie Robotics is a Regina-based cleantech startup founded in 2017 by Sam Dietrich and Stevan Mikha that builds an IoT-based recycling solution. Its platform places cameras, GPS, and computers onboard recycling vehicles and uses proprietary computer vision to identify contaminants at the household level. The company performs targeted outreach to households to reduce contaminants, lower recycling processing costs, and reduce environmental impacts. Prairie Robotics has run pilot projects with a group of municipalities in Western Canada and won the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment’s 2019 Innovation Challenge. The startup currently serves the Western Canadian market and aims to expand across the rest of Canada and into the United States. It plans to use the new capital to double its six-person team and accelerate adoption of its platform. Conexus Venture Capital's managing director Sean O'Connor is joining the company's board as it scales.
