Prematch is a Cologne-based platform for amateur football players that combines social-network features with professional soccer data and tools. Each player receives a personal profile with performance data and statistics, can follow friends and favourites, and gets personalized news and results for up to 80,000 matches per weekend (currently in Germany). The startup launched in Germany in August last year after a prior €1.7 million raise and now reports players from 94% of German football teams on the platform. It has partnerships with Delay Sports Berlin and various creators to drive Gen Z engagement. Prematch recently secured €2.4 million in a funding round led by Schadeberg Family Office with participation from an Angel Fund around ESL founder Ralf Reichert and contributors including Verena Pausder, Patric Fassbender and Marcus Stahl. With the new funding the team plans to further develop the platform and expand toward new target groups and markets. Prematch aims to become a super platform for non-professional football in Europe, combining components from social networks and professional soccer platforms to deliver news, data and gamified experiences. The platform lets active players follow themselves, friends and teammates, similar to following professional stars. It holds data on over 2 million players and is targeting a market of an estimated 190 million football fans. Founded in 2021 by Fiete Grünter, Lukas Röhle and Niklas Brackmann and based in Cologne, Prematch plans to continue product development and expand across Germany. The company raised €1.7 million in new funding to support those plans. Investors include a consortium of founders, angel investors and sports ecosystem decision makers.
